Large EV supply contracts are getting more common, and BYD is the latest to sign one. The Chinese EV maker will deliver 100,000 cars to SIXT, a German car rental company.
BYD cars will start below 40,000 euros in Europe.
However, before the jumbo order, SIXT will purchase thousands of EVs from BYD. The rental company will take the first deliveries in the final quarter of 2022.
SIXT will start offering the EVs in Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the UK. All the vehicles will be delivered within six years, as reported by CNEVPost.
The first BYD-made EV SIXT will offer its customer is the ATTO 3, an SUV.
BYD sold almost 95,000 purely electric cars in September, with 7,736 exported from China.
Tesla created a buzz when it signed a deal to supply Hertz with 100,000 EVs. Its share price soared to record levels as a result.
Hertz has also signed a deal with Polestar, who agreed to provide 65,000 electric cars to the European car rental company. Meanwhile, Hertz’s appetite for electric vehicles is insatiable, as it will also receive 175,000 EVs from GM over the next five years.
