Bridgestone launches Turanza EV tire for Tesla and Ford Mustang Mach-E

Bridgestone has launched its new Turanza EV grand touring tire, designed specifically for electric vehicles (EVs). The tire aims to optimize EV performance by offering reduced ride noise and improved tread life and wet handling. The initial release is targeted at the Tesla Model 3, Model S, Model X, Model Y, and Ford Mustang Mach-E.

According to Bridgestone, the Turanza EV tire is the first replacement tire in North America to incorporate ENLITEN technology, which enhances all-season performance, extends wear life, and incorporates renewable and recycled materials. The tire’s key features include a next-generation tread compound for improved wear and all-season performance, new structural components for balanced comfort and reduced noise, and increased efficiency for both internal combustion engine (ICE) and EV platforms.

The tire utilizes renewable and recycled materials such as recycled carbon black, synthetic rubber from recycled plastic, renewable soybean oil, and rice husk silica. Bridgestone plans to expand the use of ENLITEN technology across its entire product line in the future.

Another technology featured in the Turanza EV tire is PeakLife, a polymer technology that enhances tread resistance, resulting in extended tire life. The PeakLife polymer improves wear capabilities for the Turanza EV tire. The polymer creates unique bonds with reinforcing particles, leading to longer-lasting tread and reducing the need for new tires. The PeakLife technology also focuses on wear resistance and lower rolling resistance to increase vehicle fuel efficiency.

“With the accelerated progress toward an electrified vehicle fleet, we’re thrilled to launch a tire that is designed to help drivers get the best overall experience from their electric vehicles, including ride comfort, all-season driving performance and excellent wear life. We are also excited to introduce ENLITEN, which marks a major pivot in how we approach tire technology and design to deliver both exceptional dynamic performance and increased use of renewable and recycled materials,” said Riccardo Cichi, President and Chief Sales Officer, Bridgestone Americas.

Here is the US pricing for the Turnana EV tire, direct from Bridgestone.

  • 235/40R19 – $463.99 each
