The Washington Football Team officially has a new name. On Wednesday the 87-year old franchise announced its new name would be the Washington Commanders.
Following the announcement, the Commanders used a fleet of Tesla Model Ys to help promote the team’s new identity.
In a video shared by ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Twitter, at least nine Model Ys wrapped in the new team name and colours can be seen leaving FedEx field.
According to Schefter, the fleet of electric SUV will be driving around Washington, Maryland, and Virginia to hand out team merchandise.

The new identity comes following years of requests by fans, investors, and advertisers to drop the team’s original name out of respect for Native Americans.
With the threat of losing sponsors and investors, the team finally decided to become the Washington Football Team in July 2020 while it searched for a new identity.
