It was a busy week last week for Tesla closing out the third quarter in record style by delivering over 241K cars around the world. Included in those figures were the first few Model S Plaid vehicles handed over to new owners in Canada.
We reported last week that Tesla was preparing to kick off Plaid deliveries in Vancouver, but unfortunately due to the end of quarter rush there was no special event planned like for the first refresh Model S vehicles the week before.
According to photos posted to the TMC forums, several deliveries took place as planned. On Thursday user Apexi posted images of his black Model S Plaid in the delivery lot on Great Northern Way, sitting next to a gorgeous red Model S Plaid also waiting to be delivered.
Another user from Vancouver Island, harry0226 also shared images of his Midnight Silver Model S Plaid with cream interior on delivery day over the weekend. It was quite the upgrade for the new owner who already has a Standard Range Plus (SR+) Model 3 in his garage.
Harry reported the fit and finish was “quite excellent” and that the acceleration from his first drag strip launch left his brain hurting.
It didn’t take long for the first Plaid sighting to be posted to Twitter. Drive Tesla reader Colin Hay spotted a black Plaid, possibly belonging to Apexi, driving along the streets of downtown Vancouver on Sunday.

Even though the first Plaid deliveries have been made, other reservation holders are still seeing long wait times in their Tesla accounts. Several owners are reporting their dates have been pushed back into November and December, and Delivery Advisors are saying production of their cars won’t begin until late October.
If you have a Plaid reservation, let us know in the comments below what your estimated delivery date is, or reach out to as tips@driveteslacanada.ca.
