Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus (SR+) wait times in Canada slip from April to September 2022

For a brief moment in time Canadian customers buying a Model 3 Standard Range Plus (SR+) could expect to receive their new cars before our neighbours to the south.

Tesla put an end to that last night, updating the Design Studio to push delivery wait times north of the border out by five months.

As recently as Tuesday morning orders placed for the stock configuration (white with 18″ aero wheels) were showing an estimated delivery date of April 2022.

Now the online configurator is estimating a full 11-month wait to September 2022. This matches estimated delivery dates in the US.

If you need a car sooner than that, you will have to pay anywhere from as little as $2,000 extra, or possibly $10,000 or more.

The cheapest option is upgrading to the 19″ Sport Wheels for $2,000 CAD, although it only reduces the wait time to June 2022.

Paying an extra $10,000 to move up to the Long Range (LR) variant improves your wait time even more to December 2021.

If even that is too far in the future you will have to find a used Model 3 to buy. Unfortunately used prices have skyrocketed due to the lack of supply and record levels of demand, forcing dealers to pay as much as $13,000 more than retail prices at auction.
