Vancouver Island firefighters donate funds towards new EV charging station

For several years, the firefighters at the Comox Firehall on central Vancouver Island have donated more than $150,000 back into their community.

Their latest donation is one that will make electric vehicle (EV) drivers in the region happy.

On June 16 2020, the Comox Firefighters Association donated $2,000 to the town of Comox to be used for the installation of a new ChargePoint EV charge station at the Comox Firehall.

Comox Fire chief Gord Schreiner says that while this may seem unusual to most, it is not surprising to those that know them.

I am so proud of our firefighters for their support of so many important projects in our community. This environment-friendly project is just another great example of some of the many things they do.

The surplus money for donations like these comes from the Comox Fire Training Centre, which is used by hundreds of firefighters from across the province.
