Rivian continues handing over R1T electric trucks to employees, still no customer deliveries

The first customer-ready R1T electric pickup truck rolled off the automaker’s production line in mid-September. It was a significant moment for Rivian after more than a decade of work to get to that point.

With the first production vehicle, many were expecting customer deliveries to begin soon, especially since just a few weeks earlier they had sent an update to reservation holders confirming deliveries would begin in September.

However the first deliveries went to long-time employees at a special event last month instead.

As we near the end of October, the company still has yet to deliver a vehicle to a paying customer, but they have handed over more R1T trucks to employees.

One of those employees was Travis Munson, who according to his Twitter profile works in the facilities strategy department at Rivian. He shared several images of his delivery at the company’s facility in Normal, Illinois.

Jody Ravary, another Rivian employee who is a Group Leader at the company according to his LinkedIn profile, also shared images of his new R1T on Facebook.

Hopefully these deliveries mean customers who have been waiting a long time for their R1T will get theirs soon too.
