Watch Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe’s speech to employees before he drives first R1T off production line

Rivian hit a major milestone last week, producing the first customer-ready R1T electric pickup truck from their manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois.

The EV automaker shared some images of the occasion on Twitter, showing founder and CEO RJ Scaringe driving the first production R1T off the line soon after it was completed.

Prior to that however, Scaringe took to the mic to thank the not only the hundreds of employees there in the factory that day, but the thousands across the country that made that day a reality.

Clearly emotional at the significance of the moment, Scaringe said that even though the company has been around for 11 years, this is the first step as it moves into production.
