General Motors has released a new video of their upcoming Hummer EV tackling some off-road trails in Moab, Utah.
The automaker sent a total of four Hummer EVs to take on the desert trails ahead of its scheduled production start later this fall.
Calling it the world’s first all-electric supertruck, the Hummer EV team tested and calibrated Adaptive Air Suspension hardware, Extract Mode, Terrain Mode, One-Pedal Driving control, e4WD and torque distribution, eLockers, stability control, rear steering, CrabWalk and more.
In a press release, GM described the different features in detail and how they will help drivers in off-road situations.
“Available Terrain Mode, part of the GMC HUMMER EV’s Drive Mode Control, will offer two braking calibrations, with a mild braking option for two-foot driving and a purpose-designed One-Pedal Driving control in low-speed off-road driving. As pioneered by General Motors for other electric vehicles, One-Pedal Driving enables the driver to accelerate and decelerate using only the accelerator pedal. With Terrain Mode, that same One-Pedal Driving control is adapted with unique calibrations for speed-limited off-road driving, helping the driver to negotiate steep grades, rock crawling and other challenging terrain without having to toggle between the accelerator and brake pedal.”
Extract Mode was also detailed. In situations where more ground clearance is needed, like clearing large boulders or crossing deep water, the adaptive air suspension can raise the electric truck as much as 6-inches.
Along with the video, the automaker also released detailed specifications for the Hummer EV in its different driving modes.
The  already sold-out Hummer EV Edition 1 will launch first later this fall, priced at $112,595 USD ($147,750 CAD).
