Tesla has provided a new update on its plans to bring next-generation Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities to older vehicles, confirming that its upcoming “V14 Lite” software will begin rolling out in June. If they are able to meet this timeline, it would aligns with Tesla’s earlier expectations that it would be released in Q2 2026.
The update came during the Q1 2026 earnings call, where Tesla’s head of Autopilot and AI software, Ashok Elluswamy, shared new details on what HW3 owners can expect from the long-awaited release.
According to Elluswamy, V14 Lite will deliver many of the same core features currently available in the full V14 software running on newer AI4 hardware, but in a more optimized and simplified form tailored for older vehicles.
While Tesla has been clear that HW3 vehicles won’t match the full capabilities of its latest hardware, V14 Lite appears to close part of that gap. Elluswamy described the software as a “distilled” version of V14, designed to bring over the most important functionality while staying within the compute limits of HW3.
One feature specifically mentioned that will be included is the ability to initiate FSD directly from park. This was first introduced in V14 that represents a major step toward more seamless end-to-end autonomy.
“V14 Lite is expected in June, which will include all major features currently available in V14,” Elluswamy said during the call.
While no other specifics were provided, we expect things like reversing, new driver profiles, and destination parking options will also be included in V14 Lite.
