Tesla has increased prices on the Model Y in Europe, pointing to increased demand for the electric SUV after a year of sluggish sales in the region.
According to an update to Tesla’s online configurator on Wednesday, the price of the Model Y in France increased by €1,000, or around C$1,600/US$1,170. Unlike many of Tesla’s pricing adjustments, the increase was reflected on all Model Y trims available in the country.
The price increase wasn’t confined to just France, with users reporting similar €1,000 price increases in other European countries like Germany, Norway, Denmark, Spain, and others. Unlike France however, not all trims were increased in some markets, with the price increases limited to the Premium and Performance trims.

Tesla’s pricing adjustments comes after a challenging year for the automaker in Europe. In 2025, Tesla saw sales volumes decline across virtually all markets. The declines were attributed to Elon Musk’s increased political activity in early 2025, which had a particular effect in Europe as Musk tried to inject himself into politics in the region. There was also increased competition from legacy automakers and a wave of new, lower-cost EVs from China, as well as reductions in incentives in some countries.
However, early data from 2026 suggests the tide may be turning. Tesla has begun to regain momentum in several European markets, with registration figures in Germany increasing 315% in March, while in Norway and France, registrations saw a nearly 76% and 203% increase respectively in February.
While it remains to be seen whether this rebound will be sustained through the rest of the year, the latest price increases indicate Tesla is seeing enough strength in demand to begin raising prices instead of cutting them.
