Lucid has announced its first retail partnership in Europe, marking a shift in how the luxury electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer plans to expand its presence across the continent.
On Monday the company confirmed it has signed an agreement with German automotive retail group Wackenhut, which will begin selling and servicing Lucid vehicles in Germany later this month. The move represents the start of a new hybrid distribution strategy that combines Lucid’s existing direct-to-consumer approach with partnerships through established dealer networks.
Under the agreement, Wackenhut will launch Lucid sales and service operations at its Baden-Baden facility beginning March 30, 2026. A second location in Stuttgart is expected to follow later this summer.
Additional Wackenhut sites across the region will also help support after-sales service and maintenance, expanding support for Lucid owners in Germany.
Lucid previously relied exclusively on direct sales in Europe, operating company-owned “Lucid Studios” in cities such as Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, and Hamburg. These locations allow customers to explore the brand and purchase vehicles online, while Lucid’s service centers and mobile service teams handle maintenance and repairs.
The new hybrid model keeps key aspects of Lucid’s sales strategy under company control while leveraging local partners to grow more quickly. Lucid will continue managing brand positioning and vehicle pricing, while retail partners like Wackenhut will oversee regional sales and service operations.
“We are entering the next phase of Lucid’s journey in Europe, and we are pleased to launch this new distribution strategy with Wackenhut, a partner that shares our ambition to actively drive Lucid’s growth in one of our most important markets, Germany,” said Lawrence Hamilton, President Europe at Lucid. “With two award-winning vehicles available, now is the right moment to expand our sales and service capabilities through partnerships with excellent and experienced retailers such as Wackenhut.”
Wackenhut is a family-owned dealer group headquartered in Nagold, Germany, with roots dating back to 1948. The company operates 11 locations across Baden-Württemberg and represents several premium automotive brands. Its facilities are already equipped to handle EVs and staffed with certified high-voltage technicians, making it well positioned to support Lucid’s growing lineup.

The partnership comes as Lucid works to strengthen its presence in Europe, where sales have remained relatively modest so far. Registration data earlier this year showed the company delivered only a small number of vehicles across markets including Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland.
Expanding through dealer partnerships could help accelerate growth without requiring Lucid to build out a large network of company-owned locations. The strategy allows the automaker to tap into established retail infrastructure while maintaining the premium customer experience it has emphasized since launching in Europe.
Lucid currently sells two vehicles globally — the Air sedan and the Gravity SUV. Last week the company announced two upcoming mid-size SUVs, Cosmos and Earth, and confirmed a third vehicle built on the same platform to be released in the future.
