Tesla Launches New Model Y Performance in the U.S. for $57,490

Tesla has officially introduced the new Model Y Performance in the United States. While U.S. customers can place orders immediately, Canadians will have to wait, as this trim is not yet available north of the border.

According to Tesla’s online Design Studio, the Model Y Performance starts at US$57,490, with any paint colour and tow hitch included in that price, a potential savings of up to US$2,000. The first deliveries are estimated to begin in December.

That long wait is likely because Tesla wanted to open their order books today, September 30. For those who act quickly, orders placed before midnight tonight qualify for the full US$7,500 federal tax credit, effectively reducing the price to $49,990. After tonight, that tax credit expires.

Order with a referral link and also receive three months of Full Self-Driving.

As noted by Tesla’s VP and head of North American operations, Raj Jegannathan, customers who order now will have the option to arrange financing closer to delivery, rather than at the time of purchase.

This gives buyers more time to prepare while still locking in the limited-time incentive.

Performance Specs and Details

The new Model Y Performance pairs Tesla’s efficiency with speed: 0–60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, with a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h), all while achieving a range of 308 miles (496 km).

Tesla has refreshed the Model Y Performance with new front and rear fascias and a carbon fiber spoiler, engineered for improved aerodynamics. The spoiler not only enhances the SUV’s sporty look but also increases downforce and reduces drag at highway speeds.

A new set of 21-inch Arachnid wheels with staggered tires boosts grip and steering response. Paired with adaptive damping, the system continually adjusts suspension settings to balance comfort with handling.

Inside, the SUV features heated and ventilated sport seats up front, and heated, perforated rear seats with power recline for passengers. Tesla has also added powered thigh extenders and bolstered side cushions, designed to hold occupants in place during spirited driving.

Sound-dampening materials and acoustic glass create a quieter cabin, while the centerpiece is a new and slightly larger 16-inch high-resolution touchscreen.

Drivers also gain access to new Drive Modes, allowing more control in performance scenarios. Tesla has also incorporated high-density battery cells that increase charging capacity and overall efficiency.

Availability

The Model Y Performance is available to order now in the U.S., but the first deliveries will not begin until December.

Tesla has not announced a timeline for Canadian release of the Model Y Performance.
