Tesla Hits 70,000 Supercharger Stalls Globally, Adds 10,000 in Eight Months

Tesla has reached another major milestone in its mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy: the company has now deployed over 70,000 Supercharger stalls worldwide.

The milestone was marked with the opening of a new 12-stall V3 Supercharger station in Burleson, Texas, part of a growing push to expand high-speed charging access in both urban and rural areas.

This achievement comes just nine months after Tesla celebrated the installation of its 60,000th Supercharger stall in Japan in October 2024. The pace of expansion—adding roughly 10,000 stalls in under a year—highlights Tesla’s unmatched ability to scale EV infrastructure globally.

Exponential Growth Since 2012

The Supercharger network was first launched in 2012 with just six stations in the U.S. Since then, Tesla has grown its footprint to cover 53 countries across North America, Europe, Asia, and beyond.

The expansion has been particularly aggressive in the past few years. In September 2023, the company hit the 50,000 stall mark, followed by 60,000 Supercharger in October 2024, and by June 2025, it has added 10,000 more.

This exponential growth is reflected in a visual chart shared by Tesla, showing a steep acceleration in the number of Superchargers beginning around 2020 and continuing sharply upward through 2025. In 2017, the global Supercharger count was still under 10,000. It doubled to about 20,000 by mid-2020 and reached 35,000 by the end of 2021.

The company has added over 47,000 stalls in just five years, with the growth rate accelerating. In 2024 alone, Tesla added more than 10,600 stalls, or nearly 30 new stalls per day on average.

During Q1 2025, Tesla deployed another 2,200 stalls across its global network.

Now Available in 53 Countries

Tesla’s Supercharger network now spans 53 countries, supporting long-distance travel and dense urban commuting alike. The 53rd country was Estonia, which saw its first Supercharger open on Thursday.

Key expansion regions in the past year include Japan, where Tesla installed the 60,000th stall in 2024, and in Chile, marking Tesla’s Supercharger debut in South America. The company also recently opened its first Supercharger in the Philippines

What’s Next?

At Tesla’s current pace, they should easily surpass 80,000 Supercharger stalls globally by mid-2026, maintaining an average growth rate of around 10,000 to 12,000 new stalls per year—far outpacing any other EV charging provider worldwide.
