Lucid has recently updated its website to prioritize available inventory for its Air luxury sedan, steering customers toward ready-to-deliver vehicles instead of a traditional build-to-order process. Even with the change, custom orders are still possible, but it requires a few more clicks to get to Lucid’s configurator.
In both in Canada and the United States, clicking “Order” on Lucid’s main Air model page now takes perspective buyers directly to a searchable database of available inventory, including new, demo, and pre-owned units.

However, by navigating through Lucid’s online menu, prospective buyers can still click on “Design Yours” and access the full vehicle configurator and place a custom order for the Air Pure, Touring, or Grand Touring. However, even on the configurator, Lucid still prominently tries to direct buyers to existing inventory with a “Get your car faster” button.
The Gravity SUV, which only recently started production and deliveries, is only available through a custom order on the configurator.

Lucid’s change mirrors a similar shift recently made by Tesla, which now also redirects customers to inventory listings on its website instead of guiding them directly to the Design Studio.
Tesla has employed this method of selling when it has a large volume of unsold inventory, and it appears Lucid is now facing a similar issue, and employing the same sales tactics.
The increased focus on inventory units comes as Lucid rolls out some of its most aggressive discounts to date. In Canada, eligible buyers can save up to C$12,600 when combining multiple promotions:
- On-Site Vehicle Bonus: Up to $7,500 off 2024 models or $2,600 off 2025 models—applicable only to vehicles physically available at Lucid Studios.
- Conquest Offers: Up to $5,000 in stacked incentives for owners of qualifying ICE, hybrid, or Tesla vehicles, without requiring a trade-in.
In the U.S., discounts are even more substantial, with up to $22,500 USD in combined savings:
- Air Touring: Up to $22,500 in credits and bonuses, including the $7,500 federal EV tax credit.
- Air Pure and Grand Touring: Between $17,500 and $20,000 off, depending on vehicle ownership and location.
These limited-time deals apply mostly to vehicles already in stock, further explaining Lucid’s decision to spotlight inventory options.
While some headlines have incorrectly suggested that Lucid has ended all custom ordering for the Air sedan, the configurator remains accessible—just less prominently—suggesting Lucid is prioritizing inventory to reduce lead times and boost Q2 and Q3 sales volumes.
The change comes on the heels of a strong Q1 2025 for Lucid, with over 3,100 vehicles delivered. The company is aiming to double production in 2025 with the help of its new Gravity SUV, while a more affordable midsize model is planned for launch in late 2026.
