Western Canada Gets First 400 kW EV Charger From On The Run

Electric vehicle (EV) drivers in British Columbia now have access to the fastest public charging speeds available in Western Canada, thanks to a new ultra-fast charging station opened by On The Run in Delta, B.C.

Located at 8579 120 Street, the new site is the first in the region to feature a 400 kW charger — capable of delivering massive power for EVs that support high-speed charging. Operated by On The Run, a subsidiary of Parkland Corporation, the Delta location includes three chargers – one A400 unit offering up to 400 kW and two Terra 184 chargers rated at 180 kW each.

To celebrate the opening of the 400kW chargers, all charging sessions are free through the Journie Rewards app for a limited time.

On The Run has more expansion plans in the pipeline. Four additional 400 kW chargers are set to go live across British Columbia this spring, with another two more opening in Quebec. Ontario is expected to see its first ultra-fast chargers from the company later in the year. All equipment is supplied by ABB Group, a global leader in EV charging technology.

On The Run’s chargers support both CCS and CHAdeMO connectors, covering a wide range of EVs. However, Tesla drivers must bring their own adapter, which currently limits charging speeds to a maximum of 50 kW. Although the company previously announced plans to roll out support for the North American Charging Standard (NACS) in 2024, those adapters have yet to appear at this location.
