Tesla and Steak ‘n Shake partner to roll out 100+ Supercharger stations across the U.S

Tesla has entered into a partnership with the fast-food restaurant chain Steak ‘n Shake to install Supercharger stations at select locations across the United States. The partnership could see the installation of over 100 new Supercharger stations across the U.S., making it one the largest, if not the largest, partnerships to date.

According to a post by the official Tesla Charging account on X, the two companies have already finalized plans for six sites, with over 20 additional locations currently undergoing design review. The locations of the planned Superchargers were not revealed.

Apparently eager to grow the partnership, the official Steak ‘n Shake account responded by saying they want to add Superchargers at over 100 locations, and that the 20+ mentioned sites that were under review should be considered approved.

Founded in February 1934 in Normal, Illinois, Steak ‘n Shake is known for its burgers, milkshakes, and late-night dining. There are now over 400 locations in the U.S., with most of them concentrated in the eastern part of the country, meaning the partnership could see Superchargers installed at 20% of the company’s locations.

Tesla is also entering the Supercharger plus restaurant game themselves, developing a unique Supercharger station in Los Angeles that combines a retro-inspired diner and a drive-in theater. This facility will feature two movie screens, 30 Supercharger stalls, and a 24-hour rooftop seating restaurant. The diner and drive-in has been under construction for over a year, but based on recent progress, should hopefully open later this summer.

Tesla’s collaboration with Steak ‘n Shake is part of a broader strategy to enhance the EV charging experience by integrating Supercharger stations with dining and leisure destinations. Tesla has partnered with various retailers and dining establishments to host Supercharger stations, such as Wawa and Buc-ee’s, providing amenities such as restrooms, Wi-Fi, and food options for travelers.

These partnerships not only offer convenience to Tesla owners but also drive foot traffic to the host establishments, creating a mutually beneficial relationship.
