Tesla Increases Prices in Canada By Up To $9,000

Tesla has officially raised the prices of its entire lineup in Canada, implementing an increase that impacts every Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X variant.

The price adjustments, which went into effect overnight but were first announced on January 22, see hikes ranging from $4,000 to $9,000 depending on the vehicle, with the biggest jumps affecting the Model 3 lineup.

Here’s a full breakdown of the new pricing:

Tesla Model 3

• Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (LR RWD): $59,990 (+$4,000)

• Long Range All-Wheel Drive (LR AWD): $68,990 (+$8,000)

• Performance (P): $79,990 (+$9,000)

Tesla Model Y

• Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (LR RWD): $64,990 (+$4,000)

• Long Range All-Wheel Drive (LR AWD): $68,990 (+$4,000)

• Performance (P): $73,990 (+$4,000)

• Launch Series LR AWD: $84,990 (No price change)

The Model Y Launch Series, Tesla’s limited-edition refreshed version with design upgrades, remains priced at $84,990, unaffected by the hike.

Tesla Model S and Model X

• All-Wheel Drive (AWD): $114,990 (+$4,000)

• Plaid: $135,990 (+$4,000)

Both the Model S and Model X saw uniform increases of $4,000 across their AWD and Plaid variants.

Cybertruck Pricing Unchanged

Tesla did not adjust Cybertruck pricing in Canada. The Dual Motor remains at $137,990, and the CyberBeast at $165,990.

Why Did Tesla Raise Prices?

Tesla has not provided an official explanation for the price increases, but several factors could be at play:

One is currency fluctuations. The Canadian dollar has weakened significantly against the U.S. dollar in recent months, making imported vehicles more expensive.

The other is tariffs. At the time of the original announcement on January 22, President Trump had signaled his intention to impose 25% tariffs on Canadian goods. In response, the Canadian government said they would do the same.

What This Means for Canadian Tesla Buyers

This price increase may push some potential Tesla buyers to reconsider their purchase timelines. Customers who were eyeing a Model 3 or Model Y may now face a tougher decision, especially with the loss of the iZEV rebate of $5,000.

For those who placed orders before the price hike, Tesla will honour the original pricing at the time of purchase.
