Satellite maps and live traffic now available for SR+ in Canada, and streaming over LTE is back too

When Tesla pushed the holiday software update, 2019.40.50.1 out to Canadian owners over the last couple of days, there was an unfortunate side effect for Standard Range Plus (SR+) owners. After the update, there was no more streaming over LTE for the Theatre and Web options.

It seemed like that was indicating the Premium Connectivity Option was soon going to be released like it was in the US earlier this month, but now it appears Canadian SR+ owners are getting streaming back for free. Not only that, but the option to have satellite view and live traffic in the map is now available too.

Some owners are reporting having to reboot (hold both click wheels on the steering wheel until the center display reboots) to see the new features. Others are simply getting into their car and the new features are already there. That was the case on our SR+, where just yesterday we weren’t able to stream over LTE, and did not have satellite view or live traffic.

There’s obviously no way to tell how long these features will be available to SR+ owners, or when this will become part of the Premium Connectivity package for a monthly fee. So enjoy it while it lasts.
