Universal Orlando reportedly partnering with The Boring company

The city of Orlando in Florida may soon host an underground tunnel road system a la Vegas, as Universal Orlando is reportedly in talks to collaborate with Elon Musk’s Boring company.

According to information gathered by the Orlando Business Journal, the transport system around International Drive may be in for an underground upgrade. The development is rumored to be proposed by the Universal Orlando Resort, with The Boring Co. the likely contractor.

One of the city’s business leaders, Maria Triscari, president and CEO of The International Drive Resort Area Chamber of Commerce, revealed that it is a matter of when, not if. She stated, “It’s definitely been in the talks because we want to be a cut above the rest, and that’s the type of thing that needs to happen, and that’s the kind of people we have on the I-Drive Corridor, the visionaries. They are just so forward-thinking.”

Business owner Joshua Wallack claims the Boring Co. is considering linking the Orange County Convention Center to Epic Universe. He adds that talks are ongoing with property owners. Meanwhile, other tourism operators are understood to be involved in the initiative.

One of the most popular projects by The Boring Co. is the Vegas Loop, a transport loop running under popular venues in Las Vegas and connecting different parts. The subsurface network uses Tesla cars to transport visitors from one place to another.

The Boring Co. is reportedly discussing connecting Nashville airport and downtown with Tennessee state officials. On the other side of the globe, it has signed an MOU with Dubai on an underground transport system in the emirate.
