Trump to Keep Starlink and Tesla at White House Despite Musk Fallout

President Donald Trump has announced he will keep the White House’s Starlink internet service and the Tesla Model S he purchased earlier this year, despite a high-profile feud with Elon Musk. The decision comes amid speculation about the future of their relationship, which soured after a public spat over Trump’s tax bill.

Speaking to reporters at the Invest America Roundtable and aboard Air Force One on Monday, Trump praised Starlink, operated by Musk’s SpaceX, as “a good service” and confirmed no plans to terminate its use at the White House.

Trump also addressed the Tesla Model S he bought in March. On Monday Trump hinted at possibly relocating it to one of his many properties. “I have a lot of locations,” Trump said, without elaborating on potential destinations.

The Trump-Musk rift erupted last week when Musk criticized Trump’s signature tax legislation and endorsed a now-deleted X post calling for the president’s impeachment. The dispute escalated with Musk’s since-removed posts linking Trump to Jeffrey Epstein files, prompting Trump to threaten the cancellation of government contracts with Musk’s companies, including SpaceX and Tesla. The fallout also contributed to a dip in Tesla’s stock value.

Despite the tensions, Trump struck a conciliatory tone on Monday, stating, “I wish him [Musk] well. We had a good relationship.” When asked about direct communication with Musk, Trump suggested the Tesla CEO likely wants to reach out, adding, “If I were him, I’d want to speak to me.” He dismissed rumors of Musk using drugs, such as ketamine, during White House visits, saying, “I don’t know anything about that.”

The decision to keep Starlink and the Tesla marks a shift from earlier reports. A senior White House official had indicated Trump was considering selling or giving away the Tesla, and the president had publicly expressed disappointment in Musk’s recent actions. However, Trump’s latest comments suggest a willingness to maintain ties with Musk’s technology, if not the man himself.

Interestingly, Musk endorsed a Trump social media post on June 9, 2025, regarding protests in Los Angeles over immigration raids, hinting at lingering alignment despite their public clash.
