Elon Musk’s The Boring Company has taken another major step toward expanding its Vegas Loop transit network, purchasing land near Harry Reid International Airport for nearly $6 million.
According to Clark County records, the company—through its subsidiary Object Dash—acquired the 1.72-acre parcel at 5032 Palo Verde Road on September 15 for $5.96 million. The purchase marks the seventh property acquisition by the Boring Company in the Las Vegas Valley since 2022, bringing its total investment in local land to about $54.8 million. The newly acquired site sits just south of Tropicana Avenue, close to the airport’s upcoming multimodal transit center, which will act as a hub for ground transportation serving passengers, staff, and flight crews. Once complete, the site will be the nearest Vegas Loop station to Harry Reid International Airport, giving travelers a direct and efficient link to major destinations along the Strip and surrounding areas.
Along with the land purchase, the Nevada Transportation Authority has approved The Boring Company to operate airport rides that include above-ground segments. These surface routes can span up to four miles (6.4 km), provided that part of each trip still takes place within the Vegas Loop’s underground tunnels.
Each ride to and from the airport will have separate fares for the tunnel and surface portions, the Authority noted in its approval.
The Vegas Loop, which uses Tesla vehicles to transport passengers through underground tunnels in a point-to-point system, currently connects the Las Vegas Convention Center with Resorts World. Eventually, the Loop is expected to stretch 68 miles with 104 stations across the Las Vegas Valley, linking downtown Las Vegas, the Strip, Allegiant Stadium, Chinatown, and other major destinations.
The company has not yet released a construction timeline or target opening date for the airport station.
