Tesla is facing another leadership shakeup as Troy Jones, Vice President of Sales, Service, and Delivery for North America, has left the company after a 15-year tenure.
Jones’ exit marks the latest in a growing list of senior Tesla executives to leave the company in recent months, raising concerns about internal instability and the automaker’s ability to navigate increasingly challenging market conditions.
The Wall Street Journal first reported the departure, citing sources familiar with the matter. While Jones has yet to confirm the report, Drive Tesla has been able to verify with our own sources the report is accurate.
Jones is the fourth major executive to leave Tesla in recent weeks. His departure follows the exits of Omead Afshar, a longtime confidant of Elon Musk and head of North American and European operations; Jenna Ferrua, Tesla’s Director of Human Resources for North America; and Milan Kovac, Vice President of Engineering who oversaw development of the company’s humanoid robot, Optimus.
The departure of Tesla’s head of North American sales comes amid a turbulent period for the EV maker. Sales in North America have been slipping, with Tesla reporting a double-digit year-over-year decline in deliveries during the second quarter of 2025.
Sales in Europe have also been on a steady decline in 2025, with the head of European sales, Omead Afshar, also leaving the company last month, reportedly fired by CEO Elon Musk. Given that, it would not be surprising if Jones met the same fate as Afshar.
