Tesla’s 7-millionth car rolls off production line at Fremont factory

Tesla has announced a significant milestone this week as the automaker has now produced 7 million cars. The 7-millionth car rolled off the production line at the Fremont factory, with the record-breaking car being manufactured just yesterday.

Tesla has released its earnings report for Q3 2024. While the quarter recorded year-on-year growth for EV production and deliveries, the automaker scored another achievement less than 24 hours ago; its 7-millionth car was produced at the Fremont factory.

The company also announced the achievement with a post on X. The car, according to the photo, is a white Model Y.

It is fitting that the Fremont factory produced the special car. Tesla started producing the Model S there in 2012, occupying only a small portion of the facility formerly owned by GM and Toyota. As for Fremont itself, the factory celebrated its 3-millionth car in May 2024, less than two years after producing its 2-millionth car.

The 6-millionth Tesla car also came from its Fremont factory in March, meaning it needed less than six months to add another one million.

Tesla has come a long way from the days it struggled to produce the Model 3, but it is not resting on its laurels. It will release new more affordable cars based on their existing platforms early next year. The company has also recently revealed the Robotaxi and Robovan, but those won’t appear until at least 2026 or 2027.
