Tesla has opened its first Canadian Supercharger in 2025 in Ingersoll. Not only is the first to open this year, it is also the first station in Ontario to feature Tesla’s V4 Supercharger posts.
Construction of the Ingersoll Supercharger only started in early November. However, unlike many other projects in Ontario, this Supercharger did not sit idle for months waiting to be activated.
On Thursday, just two months after construction first began, the Ingersoll Supercharger was energized and opened to the public. Located at the new Culloden Heights shopping center (146 Culloden Rd), it costs $0.67/kWh for Tesla owners, and $0.90/kWh for non-Tesla owners.
At the time of publication, 4 of the 16 V4 Supercharger posts are out of order (4A, 4B, 4C, 4D).
As we noted, this is the first V4 Supercharger to open in Ontario. While these sites are still being built with Tesla’s V3 Supercharger cabinets giving the same 250kW peak charging rates, the V4 Supercharger posts do have benefits of their own, like longer charging cables.
This is especially important for owners of non-Tesla electric vehicles (EVs) with non-standardized charge port locations as the extra length makes it easier to charge and not occupy two or more spots in order to be able to plug in.
While Tesla was able to get this Ingersoll Supercharger open in just two months, there are still 9 other Supercharger projects waiting to be turned on in Ontario, some which have been waiting for close to 12 months. Hopefully with the start of a new year Tesla will be able to get the local utility companies to get all of these turned on sooner rather than later.
