Tesla shares video of FSD driving over 360 miles with no human intervention

Tesla aims to demonstrate the reliability of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised feature and has posted a demo video on X showing a Model Y completing a 362 mile (583km) journey without any human intervention.

The trip saw the vehicle operator completely hands-off the steering wheel from the San Francisco Bay Area to Los Angeles. The trip included a quick charging stop at a Supercharger.

The 56-second sped-up video shows the car navigating traffic stops and merging onto the highway. It can also be seen overtaking other vehicles and being overtaken. The clip ends with “Long road trips have never been easier” and encourages viewers to try out FSD Supervised.

FSD Supervised has progressed to the point that, even though a driver still needs to be on standby, they no longer need to keep their hands on the steering wheel or their foot on the accelerator or brake. However, Tesla still uses eye-tracking technology to detect if the driver is focusing on the road.

Tesla has not revealed the version of the FSD used for the demo. There are speculations that it is the same as the one on the regular Teslas on the road. However, the automaker has stated that the FSD running on the recently launched Robotaxis, which does not require human supervision, is ahead of the general version, and Tesla might have borrowed it for this demo.

Tesla recently boasted that Autopilot and FSD are nearly ten times safer than when a human driver is controlling the car.
