Tesla partners with McDonalds in China for Cyber Spoon promotion

Tesla has launched a new promotion in China, partnering with an unlikely ally in the form of McDonalds to launch a Cybertruck-inspired spoon for the McFlurry.

The promotion was announced by Tesla’s official Weibo account in China, as well as McDonalds on Xiaohongshu, another popular social media platform in the country. According to the details of the promotion, the Cyber Spoon will be available from September 6 to September 26, although they likely won’t last that long as they will only be making 50,000 Cyber Spoons available during that time.

The Cyber Spoon comes in its own special ‘Powered by Tesla’ packaging to keep it safe once you have devoured your Oreo McFlurry. The handle is also etched with the words ‘Don’t Panic,’ a phrase borrowed from “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” and which also appeared on the Tesla Roadster that was sent into space onboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket in 2018.

The unlikely partnership was so surprising it even caught CEO Elon Musk off guard, who said on X that it was “fake news [as far as I know].”
