The Canadian Tesla Supercharger team is working hard to close out the year better than how it started. After opening eight Supercharger stations in the last two months, the company has opened up two more this week in Richmond, British Columbia, and Hanna, Alberta.
Richmond Supercharger
The Richmond Supercharger has been a long time coming, with construction first starting in April. Located at the corner of St. Edwards Dr. and Bridgeport Rd (3100 St. Edwards Dr.), a total of 20 V4 Supercharger posts were installed relatively quickly, and then came the long wait, even for just repaving the lot. After sitting idle for many months, the Richmond Supercharger was finally turned on yesterday.
According to the mobile app, it costs $0.20/kWh to plug in and charge for Tesla owners, while the cost for non-Tesla EV owners is a little higher at $0.25/kWh.
This is the fourth Supercharger in Richmond, adding some much needed capacity for the area. This brings the total number of Supercharger posts in Richmond to 88.
Hanna Supercharger
Unlike Richmond, the Hanna Supercharger project was one of the quickest in Canada this year to go from construction to online. Work was first spotted at the local Tim Hortons (606 W. Industrial Rd) in mid-October, and just two months later the eight V4 Superchargers posts were powered up on Wednesday, bridging an important gap for those traveling between Calgary and Saskatoon.
Also unlike Richmond, it costs significantly more to plug in at $0.67/kWh for Tesla owners, and a whopping $0.90/kWh for other EVs.
