Tesla Model 3 Long Range with rear-wheel drive and a range of 702 km (436 miles) is now available in Europe. According to the stated specifications, it is the most efficient EV available in the region today.
Electric vehicle range has always been one of the main questions for consumers. This parameter is important, as when buying an electric car, owners want to be sure that they will be able to use it for both everyday use and for longer trips. After Model Y, Tesla has now also added to the configurator a long-range variant for the updated Model 3 offered in Europe.
According to information on the company’s website, Model 3 Long Range with rear-wheel drive has the longest range of Model 3 ever, which is 702 km (436 mi) according to the WLTP measurement method. The range of the new version is 189 kilometers more than the standard version of the car and 73 kilometers more than the all-wheel drive version. It should be noted that the cars in different variants are equipped with different wheels, which affects their range. Consumers can choose between 18″ and 19″ wheels in three variants, while the Model 3 Performance is equipped with only 20″ wheels.
Tesla described the car as “the most efficient EV available in Europe today (getting you even further for your money).” Model 3 Long Range RWD has a consumption of just 12.5 kWh/100 km, which confirms the company’s claim. In fact, this puts Model 3 at the top of the list of the ten most efficient electric cars on the German market. In second place is Fiat 500 Elektro with a consumption of 13.0 kWh. Tesla Model 3 with rear-wheel drive was already listed in third place with a consumption of 13.2 kWh.
Tesla did not specify what was changed in order to significantly increase the range of Model 3 Long Range RWD. The company only mentioned technical efforts to improve energy efficiency while reducing costs. In the configurator, the new version is 14 kg (about 31 pounds) lighter than the regular rear-wheel drive version with the same consumption of 208 kW.
Meanwhile, all the previously known features of Model 3 are also retained in the long-range model. The new variant starts at €44,990, which means it is more expensive than the entry-level rear-wheel drive variant, which starts at €39,990, and the range-topping all-wheel drive version, which starts at €49,990.
