Tesla loses two more top employees – CIO Nagesh Saldi and EMEA Policy Director Jos Dings

Tesla has seen two more top employees leave the company this week, marking yet another shift in high-ranking leadership in 2024. The latest to depart are the Chief Information Officer, Nagesh Saldi, and Jos Dings, the Director Public Policy and Business Development EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa).

Nagesh Saldi

According to a report from Bloomberg, Tesla employees have been notified this week that Chief Information Officer (CIO) Nagesh Saldi is no longer with the company.

Saldi joined Tesla in 2012 from HP and was promoted to CIO in 2018. During his time at the company, Saldi played a critical role in expanding Tesla’s data infrastructure in Texas and New York to help with AI and self-driving development.

It is unclear if Tesla left for a new position elsewhere, or was asked to leave the company.

Jos Dings

Jos Dings, who served as a key policy and business development figure at Tesla, has also announced his departure through a post on LinkedIn. Dings, a former European policy expert, was with the company for nearly eight years and played a crucial role in driving the company’s European expansion.

In his post, Dings said one of his most notable contributions was his involvement in establishing Giga Berlin. Dings helped transform a pine forest in Brandenburg into a fully operational production facility in just 861 days, something which he noted was an unprecedented feat for a project of its size in Europe.

However, Dings also noted his departure comes at a time when certain projects, like the Giga Berlin 4680 battery cell plant, remain unfinished. While the plant is technically ready, production has been delayed due to Tesla’s shift in focus to the US market, driven by the incentives of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

Saldi and Dings’ departures are the latest in a broader trend of executive and high profile exits at Tesla in 2024. Among those that have departed include Rohan PatelDrew BaglinoAllie ArebaloRebecca TinucciMartin Viecha, Rohan Ma, Sreela Venkataratnam, and others.
