Tesla Launches New Model X/Y Platform Hitch Rack

Tesla is always expanding its lineup of premium accessories, and the latest to be added to their online shop is the new Model X/Y Platform Hitch Rack.

The Model X/Y Platform Hitch Rack features a platform tray design making it easy to load and unload bikes, eliminating the hassle often associated with traditional hitch-mounted racks. Once placed in the platform tray, the bikes are secured with StrongArm hooks, which cradle the bike wheels, reducing the risk of movement during transit, even on rugged terrain.

The rack also features an integrated single-key security system lock that keeps both the bikes and the rack secure.

Additionally, the rack’s offset tray design helps prevent bikes from knocking into one another, a common issue when transporting multiple bicycles. This feature is particularly valuable for those with higher-end bikes, where protection from scratches and damage is a priority.

From fat-tire and mountain bikes to road, hybrid, and BMX bikes, Tesla says this rack accommodates different wheel sizes ranging from 50.8cm to 73.6cm and tire widths up to 8.3cm. It can carry two bikes, each weighing up to 31.7kg, making it compatible with even heavier models like E-bikes.

The Model X/Y Platform Hitch Rack includes a forward-facing remote-tilt lever that allows users to access their trunk without having to remove their bikes. For those who frequently travel on challenging trails or steep driveways, the rack also has adjustable tiered architecture allowing for greater ground clearance.

The Model X/Y Platform Hitch Rack is available now for $1,190 in Canada or $860 in the US. (h/t: @EV3_Model3)
