Tesla launches Model 3 with 830km range in China, deliveries begin September

Tesla has introduced a new variant of the Model 3 in China, making it the longest-range Tesla ever sold in the country. The Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) offers an impressive 830 kilometres (516 miles) on the CLTC cycle, with first deliveries scheduled for September 2025.

Priced at ¥269,500 (C$51,600), the new model sits ¥34,000 (C$6,500) higher than the entry-level Model 3, which starts at ¥235,500 (C$44,800). This launch increases Tesla’s Model 3 lineup in China to four variants, alongside the Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and Performance versions, priced at ¥285,500 (C$54,700) and ¥339,500 (C$65,100) respectively.

While the CLTC figure is notably higher than the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rating—typically by about 30%—the adjusted EPA-equivalent range is roughly 640 km (397 miles).

According to Tesla’s online configurator, the first deliveries of the new Model 3 Long Range RWD will begin in September.

The new feature of the new variant is its 78.4 kWh battery pack, supplied by LG Energy Solution. Tesla says this advanced ternary battery chemistry is also used in its higher-priced Model 3 trims. The RWD setup allow it to reach 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h.

This isn’t Tesla’s only product move in China for 2025. The company has confirmed that a six-seat Model Y “L” variant will debut this fall, featuring an 82 kWh battery pack and a range of 751 km (467 miles) under the CLTC standard.
