Tesla launches Cybertruck Crossbars revealing key difference between Foundation and non-Foundation Series

Tesla has launched a new accessory on Thursday – Cybertruck Crossbars. The introduction of the new accessory has also revealed an interesting difference between the Foundation Series and non-Foundation Series Cybertrucks.

According to the product listing on the Tesla Shop in both Canada and the United States, the Cybertruck Crossbars come in a pair of two and are designed for transporting bikes, gear, and additional cargo. Priced at $1,105 in Canada or $800 in the US, the aluminum, powder-coated crossbars come with a 200 lb (90 kg) load rating and feature a quick-release mechanism for easy installation at any of the vehicle’s mounting points.

With built-in T-slots, you can seamlessly attach various mounts like ski and bike racks or cargo boxes. The package includes two telescoping crossbars, eight mounting pads, a torque tool, and installation instructions.

The interesting part is the mounting points. On Foundation Series Cybertrucks there are four – two over the bed, and two over the cab. For non-Foundation Series Cybertrucks, there are just the two over the bed.

Despite this however, early non-Foundation Series Cybertrucks do actually come with the same four mounting points as the Foundation Series, according to owners of these trucks on social media. But this is only for early builds. According to the Tesla Parts Catalog, only non-Foundation Series Cybertrucks built before November 14, 2024 (today) have the four mounting points. (h/t: @kchau)

Since only Foundation Series Cybertrucks are currently sold and available in Canada, this mention of the different mounting points is not included in the Canadian version of the product listing.

Here are the links to purchase the Cybertruck Crossbars. Don’t forget they come in a pack of two, so for Foundation Series owners, you at most want to buy two sets. Non-Foundation Series owners in the US can also purchase two sets, but only if you have a Cybertruck built before today, which is all owners up to this point.
