Elon Musk took to X to confirm that Tesla is training a new Full Self-Driving model, which includes video improvements and size upgrades.
He went on to note that if testing goes well, the new FSD model could be released to the public as early as next month. It remains unclear if the new model will be available to all Tesla vehicles or if there will be a limit in terms of what models or years can operate the new and improved FSD.
If his claim of 10X params for this model is true, then this latest model for FSD will genuinely be a huge step forward in the technology. The reason for this is pretty simple: the more available data for the model to train on and learn from, the better the model will be able to operate in the real world.
This investment in the new model should continue to improve FSD and ensure that Tesla’s robotaxi fleet is able to function and flourish. Some market bulls expect that this new FSD model will be the key to correcting slumping sales; however, that may be wishful thinking depending on how things progress with Musk’s unpopularity across the world, and especially in Europe.
