Tesla is offering some new incentives for buyers in China as part of a program to boost sales before the end of the year.
According to a post from the automaker’s official Weibo account in China, 10 local customers who purchase a new Tesla vehicle through the company’s official trade-in service by December 3 could win a tour of Giga Shanghai. The package includes airfare and a one-night hotel stay for each winner and a guest.
Even existing owners can enter the contest by scanning a QR code included on the promotional poster.
This isn’t the only incentive being offered. For a limited time, customers who test drive a vehicle can receive one of three prizes – a Cybertruck model, a Model Y canopy, or a S3XY clock.
These new incentives come on the heels of Tesla’s recent October sales figures, which saw a decline in overall vehicle deliveries. According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), Tesla’s wholesale sales, including both domestic sales and exports from Giga Shanghai, fell to 68,280 units, a decrease of over 20% from September.
Tesla’s Giga Shanghai plays a pivotal role in the company’s global operations. As Tesla’s largest production facility, it manufactures the popular Model 3 sedan and Model Y SUV, both for the Chinese market and for export to international destinations. Since opening at the end of 2019, the factory has quickly grown in capacity, now producing nearly one million vehicles per year.
Tesla recently celebrated two key production milestones at Giga Shanghai: the production of its three-millionth vehicle and the export of its one-millionth car.
