On the same day that all variants of the Model Y became eligible for the $7,500 US tax credit, Tesla has raised the price of the Model Y Long Range and Performance variants. At the same time the automaker also lowered the price of the entry level Model 3. There have been no price changes in Canada.
Earlier this month Tesla slashed the price of the Model Y LR from $65,990 to $52,990, a massive 20% drop. A few days later the price was increased by $500 to $53,490, and tonight that price has been increased another $1,500 to $54,990.
With this new price the Model Y LR is still eligible for the $7,500 tax credit as this morning the MSRP limit was increased by the IRS to $80,000.
The Performance variant also saw a price increase, going from $56,990 to $57,990.
While the entry level Model Y increased in price, Tesla lowered the price of the entry level Model 3. The Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant now starts at $43,490, a $500 drop from its previous price of $43,990.
There has been no change to the price of the Model 3 Performance, and the Long Range variant is still not available for order.
