Tesla Improves Model 3 and Y Long Range in China with More Range & Performance, But Model 3 Also Gets Price Increase

Tesla has quietly updated its Model 3 and Model Y lineup in China, bringing performance and range improvements to the Long Range (LR) variants. At the same time, the improvements have also come with a price increase, but only to the Model 3 LR.

According to Tesla’s configurator in China, the Model 3 LR has received a RMB 10,000 (C$1,900/US$1,400) price increase, rising from RMB 275,500 to RMB 285,500 (C$54,200/US$39,800).

While this 3.6% increase may seem modest, it comes alongside meaningful upgrades: the CLTC-rated range has increased from 713 km to 753 km (443 to 468 miles), and acceleration from 0-100 km/h has improved from 4.4 seconds to 3.8 seconds.

These upgrades appear to incorporate what was previously a paid upgrade, the Acceleration Boost package, but now comes as standard, adding even more value for new buyers.

Tesla also appears to be streamlining delivery. The wait time for the Model 3 LR has dropped from 3–5 weeks to just 1–3 weeks, indicating an increase in production efficiency or allocation for the Chinese market.

Other Model 3 variants remain unchanged. The entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) version still starts at RMB 235,500 (C$44,700/US$32,800), and the performance version remains priced at RMB 339,500 (C$64,500/US$47,300), with wait times of 1–3 weeks and 8–10 weeks, respectively.

The Model Y Long Range has also been upgraded, with its CLTC range improving from 719 km to 750 km (446 to 466 miles), while its acceleration time holds steady at 4.3 seconds. Despite the enhancements, the price of the Model Y Long Range remains unchanged at RMB 313,500 (C$59,500/US$43,750). Delivery wait times have shortened to 1–3 weeks.

The entry-level Model Y RWD variant remains priced at RMB 263,500 (C$50,000/US$36,800), offering 593 km (368 miles) of range with no recent changes.

Tesla continues to sweeten the deal for Chinese customers by maintaining its purchase incentives, which include an RMB 8,000 (C$1,500/US$1,110) discount for premium paint options, an RMB 8,000 insurance subsidy, and five-year interest-free financing on select models.
