Tesla FSD v14.3 Nears Release as Testing Continues, Says Elon Musk

Tesla’s next major update to its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software appears to be getting closer to a wider rollout, with Elon Musk confirming the latest version is currently undergoing testing and could arrive within weeks.

The CEO provided a brief update on the status of FSD v14.3, responding to a question on X by saying,  “It’s in testing right now. Wide release in a few weeks.”

While timelines for Tesla software releases can shift, and Musk is well known for providing optimistic timelines, the comment suggests the company is entering the final stages before pushing the update to a broader group of drivers.

The upcoming release will be the first update in a number of months for owners of HW4/AI4 vehicles, following the initial release of FSD v14.2 in November 2025, and the most recent FSD update, v14.2.2.5 rolling out approximately one month ago.

What to Expect from FSD v14.3

Unlike recent incremental updates, FSD v14.3 is expected to be a more meaningful step forward for Tesla’s driver-assistance software. Based on previous comments from Musk, the update will introduce new capabilities focused on real-time reasoning, allowing the system to make more human-like decisions in complex driving situations.

One of the key improvements expected in v14.3 is enhanced decision-making without relying strictly on pre-mapped data. This could allow the system to better navigate environments such as private roads or unfamiliar parking areas, where traditional map-based guidance is limited or unavailable.

Tesla is also expected to expand FSD’s functionality beyond standard driving scenarios. v14.3 may introduce more advanced parking behaviour, including the ability to autonomously drop off passengers at entrances before finding and selecting an appropriate parking spot on its own, previously referred to as Banish.

Navigation improvements are also anticipated, particularly in how the system handles more nuanced real-world conditions. This could include smoother speed adjustments, better responses to irregular road surfaces like potholes, and improved handling of complex traffic situations.

Musk has also suggested that a future version of FSD will be able to accept real-time voice commands and adjust its behaviour on the fly. It is unclear if this will be included in FSD v14.3, but based on Musk’s comments that this version will be able to apply reasoning, there is a strong chance it is included.

Despite the added capabilities, Tesla’s rollout timeline remains flexible. Musk’s estimate of a “few weeks” suggests the company is aiming for a near-term release, but final timing will depend on how the software performs during internal testing. As we have seen with previous releases, bugs can pop up that force the release date to shift, sometimes by weeks or a month or more.
