Tesla FSD gift cards arrive — but only in the U.S. for now

Tesla has officially turned Full Self-Driving (Supervised) subscriptions into a giftable upgrade. A new one-month FSD gift card has launched in the Tesla Shop, giving owners a new way to share FSD just in time for the holidays.

Unfortunately the gift cards only appears in the U.S. version of the Tesla Shop, and not in Canada. It is unclear at this time if they will launch north of the border, but it would make sense and align with other products that have first launched in the U.S. before arriving in Canada days, weeks, or months later. Hopefully it is the former and not the latter and it arrives in Canada in time for the holidays.

The feature arrives in the form of a new “One Month FSD (Supervised) Gift Card,” which can be purchased directly from the Shop section of the Tesla app or on Tesla’s website. Once purchased, the digital gift card can be stored in the Tesla Wallet or sent to another Tesla owner to redeem.

As the name suggests, it covers a single month of FSD (Supervised), valued at US$112 — a price that includes up to 13% sales tax. Tesla notes that if subscription prices or taxes change, the card may not fully cover the cost.

There are a few terms attached. All sales are final, and the gift card can only be purchased and redeemed in the United States. It also isn’t locked to autonomy — if the recipient decides not to activate FSD, the funds can be applied to other products or services at Tesla that accept gift cards, including service, accessories, or charging credits.

This is the first time Tesla has enabled FSD subscriptions to be gifted to owners, and the timing is ideal. With many owners receiving FSD v14 featuring some significant improvements in driving behaviour, the gifting option could give hesitant owners the push they need to try supervised autonomy without committing to a long-term subscription or paying the full purchase price.

It’s also a clever business move. Tesla has made it increasingly clear that growing FSD adoption is one of its highest priorities, and getting more drivers hands-on with the latest software is the easiest path toward that goal and an ideal way to convert skeptics into believers. The company is also currently giving out free trials of FSD to owners.
