Tesla has expanded its innovative Self-Serve Demo Drive program to Canada. This program, already successful in various parts of the United States and Europe since last year, allows potential buyers to experience Tesla vehicles in a convenient, flexible manner without the need for staff on-site.
How the Self-Serve Demo Drives Work
The self-serve demo drive program is designed to provide a seamless test-driving experience, all without the need to Tesla to have employees on site. Here’s how it works:
- Online Booking: Interested customers start by booking a demo drive online through Tesla’s website or app. The booking process allows customers to select their preferred date and time for the test drive at the specified location.
- Vehicle Access: On the day of the demo drive, customers receive a digital key via the Tesla app. This key allows them to unlock and start the vehicle. There’s no need for Tesla staff to be present, as the entire process is managed digitally.
- Self-Guided Tour: Once inside the vehicle, customers can take their time to explore the features of the car. Tesla provides a detailed guide through the in-car display, which highlights key functionalities and driving tips. This guide helps customers familiarize themselves with the car’s features, including Autopilot, regenerative braking, and the unique electric drivetrain.
- Test Drive: Customers can then take the car for a drive within a predefined area.
- Feedback and Return: After the drive, the vehicle is then returned to the same location, and customers are encouraged to provide feedback through the app.
The first Canadian locations to offer this service are both located in Quebec: ProColor Essai de démonstration libre-service in Alma and Manoir du Lac Delage in La Jacques-Cartier, and are available from 11:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Friday.
According to Tesla’s website, both locations have the Model 3 and Model Y available. The Model S and Model X are not available for Self-Serve Demo Drives.
