Tesla develops new mounting bracket for recalled Cybertruck off-road light bar

Tesla has come up with a hardware fix for the recalled Cybertruck off-road light bar, introducing a new bracket system that secures the accessory more effectively while preserving its signature low-profile look.

The update follows last month’s physical recall covering more than 6,000 Cybertrucks with the light bar installed, after Tesla discovered that some of them could loosen or even detach due to improper adhesive primer use during installation.

According to Tesla’s Service Manual, the redesigned setup now combines adhesive with a mechanical mounting bracket positioned beneath the roof appliqué.

Initially, it was suggested the new bracket would rivet into the side of the existing light bar, but the updated service documentation confirms the hardware uses T20 Torx bolts instead—no rivets required. The bracket then bolts directly into the roof structure in the same location used for the cross bars, creating a much stronger and more consistent attachment point.

Tesla Service is inspecting affected Cybertrucks at no cost. If a light bar shows signs of delamination, it is replaced entirely using the new adhesive-and-bracket process. If the light bar is undamaged, technicians retrofit the new bracket to reinforce the existing install.

Tesla discovered the issue earlier this year after its Field Quality team noticed inconsistent adhesion during routine monitoring in February. Despite updates to service manuals and multiple technician reminders, new cases continued appearing through the summer. Chemical analysis completed in October confirmed the cause, prompting the voluntary recall.
