Tesla adds new “Mad Max” speed profile in latest FSD v14.1.2 update

Tesla has released Full Self-Driving (Supervised) version 14.1.2, introducing a brand-new “Mad Max” speed profile designed for drivers who prefer a more assertive driving style, rolling out as part of software version 2025.32.8.10.

The new Mad Max profile goes beyond the “Hurry” setting, which is still available, allowing for higher speeds and more frequent lane changes, offering drivers a more dynamic experience in traffic. The inclusion of Mad Max mode comes after Tesla added a different driver profile at the other end of the spectrum in the first v14 update last week – Sloth Mode.

According to some tests by early access users, who are so far the only ones to receive FSD v14, Mad Max mode is well suited for LA traffic, maintaining high speeds and making frequent lane changes to get around stagnant traffic.

However, in less congested areas, the Mad Max driving profile may be too aggressive for most, as it accelerates much quicker than other driving profiles, as it frequently tops out at 85 mph (137 km/h) on highways and easily exceeds the speed limit on open roads.

Earlier in the day, Tesla’s Autopilot chief Ashok Elluswamy teased in a post on X that a new version of FSD was coming with a “long-awaited” feature, which many expected to be the rumoured “Banish” mode. Unfortunately, that feature, didn’t make it into this release.

This marks Tesla’s third FSD release in just over a week, however as noted, v14 is still only available to early access testers, a few of which are in Canada.
