Stellantis offers free home charger or public charging credits for EV buyers

As Stellantis launches its first electric vehicles (EVs) this year, the company has rolled out a new offer, giving buyers a choice between a free home charging station, or US$600 in public charging credits.

This program is part of the Free2move Charge ecosystem, which provides support to new EV owners before, during, and after the purchase process. The Free2move Charge app offers two main packages for new Stellantis EV owners.

Free2move Charge – Home Package

Included with the purchase of a Stellantis BEV, the Home Package provides a Level 2 charging unit valued at approximately US$600. This option can be completed in 3 steps:

  1. Access the Installation Portal: Visit the Free2move Charge website and select the Home Package option to access the installation portal.
  2. Provide Details: Answer a few questions about the home or location for the charging station and upload some photos to receive a commitment-free estimate from Qmerit.com.
  3. Schedule Installation: Arrange an appointment with a preferred installer, who will handle the necessary permits and complete the installation.

The Free2move Charge app also advises owners on the optimal times to charge, helping them avoid peak electricity rates and save on energy costs.

Free2move Charge – Go Package

For BEV buyers who might not have the option to install a home charger, the Go Package offers $600 in public charging credits. These credits can be used at a wide network of public charging stations, including DC fast chargers and Level 2 chargers. These chargers can be located through the app, where you can also activate and pay for charging sessions.

The app provides access to over 75,000 charging locations across the United States, including those managed by ChargePoint, Shell Recharge, and EVgo. Additionally, Stellantis’ joint venture with IONNA aims to deploy 30,000 in-network chargers, with the first installations expected in the US by the end of 2024 and in Canada shortly thereafter.

While the press release from Stellantis does mention Canada several times, including the availability of the Free2move app, there is no mention of a similar EV charger and installation or charging credits available for Canadian buyers. We have reached out to Stellantis for clarification and will update this article when we receive a response.
