SpaceX’s Starlink is continuing its expansion into physical retail, opening a new dedicated store in Bozeman, Montana. The location marks another step in the company’s strategy to move beyond its traditional online-only sales model and make its hardware and services more accessible, especially in areas where reliable broadband remains limited.
Located inside the Gallatin Crossing shopping mall (2825 W Main S), the Bozeman store allows customers to see Starlink equipment firsthand and purchase complete kits directly in person. The retail location also offers in-store guidance from trained staff, helping customers understand installation requirements, expected speeds, and service options before committing to the satellite internet system, according to an Instagram post from the mall announcing the store’s opening earlier this week.
The Bozeman opening builds on Starlink’s first-ever retail store, which quietly launched in Gretna, Nebraska late last year. That initial location gave customers the ability to purchase and activate hardware in person, as well as learn more about the system’s performance and reliability before installing it at home.
The addition of physical stores represents a significant shift in Starlink’s sales strategy. Until recently, customers primarily purchased Starlink kits online or through major retail partners such as Best Buy, Costco, Walmart, and Home Depot. The company has also begun selling hardware through Amazon, further broadening its distribution channels.
Opening a retail presence in Montana is particularly notable given the state’s rural landscape, where traditional broadband infrastructure can be limited or unavailable. Starlink has seen strong adoption in these areas, providing high-speed internet to homes, ranches, and businesses that previously struggled with slow or unreliable connections.
By offering in-person retail locations, Starlink can lower barriers to adoption by giving customers the opportunity to interact directly with the hardware and receive expert guidance. This approach may also help reduce installation challenges and improve overall customer satisfaction.
