SpaceX Could Offer Starlink Kits with Solar Panels & Batteries

SpaceX may offer Starlink kits that combine solar panels and batteries, according to Elon Musk. While such a kit would be new for regular customers, it would not be new for the company, as they have already offered similar kits to help in emergency situations.

Internet access is now an important part of the lives of many people. SpaceX has already solved the problem of widespread access to the internet in many places on our planet by offering access to Starlink satellite internet. The company’s customers can connect to the internet not only at home but also while traveling if they have a Roam package. This has become even more accessible, thanks to Starlink Mini, which is a compact, portable kit that can easily fit in a backpack.

Despite the wide range of internet access options that Starlink offers, the company can still offer something new and extremely important. An X user speculated that SpaceX could offer kits that combine Starlink, solar panels, and batteries for 24/7 internet access. Such a kit would be extremely interesting to a wide range of consumers, and it seems that it could become a reality. Elon Musk responded to the tweet, writing that he agrees that it would be convenient. He also noted that Starlink could offer this directly.

“Agreed. I guess Starlink could offer that directly too,” Musk wrote.

Such an offer would be possible if SpaceX teamed up with Tesla, which produces solar panels and home batteries for storing energy. In addition, the companies have already collaborated in this area before. In the spring of 2022, in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Starlink delivered special kits to Ukraine, which included equipment for internet access and Powerwalls. The Tesla Energy team, with the help of Giga Berlin employees, assembled special kits and provided them to those in need.

Starlink currently provides communications to more than 4 million people around the world using a network of satellites in low Earth orbit. Offering an option that does not require a connection to the power grid could attract many new customers.
