Consumer Reports has published its ranking of the most loved car brands in the US, with Rivian beating the competition to the first position, while Tesla came in third.
Customer satisfaction ratings are coveted by brands as they influence potential buyers’ choices. In the latest edition of Consumer Reports’ ranking, Rivian emerged as the most loved auto brand in the US.
The Irvine-based EV startup took the crown for the second consecutive year thanks to its well-reviewed R1S and R1T, achieving a 5/5 satisfaction score, and 86% of owners saying they would buy another Rivian. BMW came second with a 73% of their owners committing to another car from the German automaker, while Tesla rounded out the top three just behind with a 72% rating. Both BMW and Tesla achieved 4/5 satsifcation scores.
Rivian was rated best in comfort, usability, and ownership cost, while Porsche ranked the highest in driving, followed by Tesla. Volkswagen ranked the lowest in driving and usability. Each brand was evaluated across its entire range of models.
Other brands in the top ten were Porsche, Lexus, and Genesis, all known for their luxury offerings. American brands Chevrolet, Lincoln, and Ford made the sixth, seventh, and eighth positions, respectively.
However, notable brands such as Lucid and Polestar were missing from the list because of “either insufficient data or a low model count.” Consumer Reports gets its data from annual auto surveys covering more than 300,000 vehicles.
