Polestar Launches in France

Polestar has officially launched in France, marking a key milestone in its renewed push to grow in Europe’s premium electric vehicle (EV) market.

The Swedish EV brand, backed by China’s Geely and spun out of Volvo, is now offering its full lineup—Polestar 2, 3, and 4—with prices starting at €46,800.

The move comes after a pause in market expansion and a delayed French debut due to a logo dispute with Stellantis-owned PSA, which was resolved in 2022.

With that issue behind it, Polestar is now targeting France as one of its top three European markets alongside the UK and Sweden.

Polestar’s Retail and Service Network in France

Polestar will begin with a retail presence in Le Mans this July, followed by openings in up to ten additional cities by year-end. Customers will be able to purchase vehicles online or through retail partners leveraging Volvo Cars’ existing network.

From launch, Polestar drivers in France will also have access to over 100 Volvo service points nationwide.

Refocusing on Europe

After aggressive early expansion—including launches in Spain, Portugal, and Italy—Polestar put further rollouts on hold in 2022. In an interview with Reuters, Polestar France Managing Director Stéphane Le Guevel said the company is now deliberately prioritizing more profitable and receptive markets, particularly in Europe. The continent already accounts for 75% of Polestar’s global sales.

Polestar’s ambitions extend beyond France. The company plans to reignite its expansion efforts in 2026, with Central Europe and Latin America in its sights.

Despite facing headwinds including slower global EV demand and tariff pressures, Polestar is betting that its premium design, direct-to-consumer model, and strong European brand identity will set it apart.

France is Polestar’s 28th global market across four continents.

In Canada, Polestar is offering a large $25,000 discount on the Polestar 3 SUV for customers who either pay cash or arrange their own financing.
