Tesla’s Supercharger network in the Greater Toronto Area is getting another boost, with construction now underway on a new station in Richmond Hill.
The site, located at the RioCan Elgin Mills Crossing Shopping Centre near Elgin Mills Road East and Highway 404, first appeared as “In Development” on Tesla’s Supercharger map in late 2024—and now physical work has begun.
Site plan approval documents were filed with the City of Richmond Hill last April late month construction finally began, with the final build featuring 24 stalls using Tesla’s latest V4 prefabricated Supercharger units (PSUs), according to photos shared on the TMC forum.
Tesla’s V4 prefabricated Supercharger units have become a key part of the company’s rapid network expansion. Unlike conventional installations—where pedestals, cabinets, conduits, and transformers are installed piece-by-piece on-site—PSUs arrive as complete, pre-wired blocks that only need to be placed, connected, and energized.
Once complete, this Richmond Hill Supercharger will help alleviate pressure on several busy nearby stations, including Markham, Vaughan, and Toronto’s Yonge Street corridor.
There is no official opening date yet, but given the use of prefabricated units and the visible construction progress, the station could realistically be energized before the end of the year, pending the final connection to the grid by the utility company, which can often delay openings for months.
