Mercedes-Benz is marking its entry into Canada’s public EV charging market with a limited-time promotion that will give drivers across British Columbia a chance to plug in for free.

The automaker has announced a free charging weekend through its newly launched Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging (HPC) network, running from April 11 to April 12, 2026. During the two-day event, all electric vehicles will be able to charge at no cost at participating locations across the province.

The promotion is open to any EV equipped with CCS or NACS ports, and notably, no adapters will be required. That means Tesla owners and drivers of other electric vehicles can access the same high-speed chargers without needing additional hardware.

“Join Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging for a free charging weekend on April 11th and 12th at all Vancouver locations to celebrate our entrance into the market. All electric vehicles with CCS and NACS are welcome, no adapters required.”

The free charging will be available at seven locations, including:

  • Abbotsford
  • Pitt Meadows
  • Surrey
  • Tsawwassen
  • Nanaimo
  • Penticton
  • Coquitlam

Mercedes-Benz first introduced its Canadian charging network in January, bringing ultra-fast charging infrastructure to key areas in Metro Vancouver and southern B.C. When complete, the network is expected to include nearly a dozen stations across the province, strategically positioned near shopping centres, restaurants, and major travel routes to support both local commuting and long-distance travel.

What sets Mercedes-Benz’s network apart is its focus on speed and accessibility. The company is deploying Alpitronic HYC 400 DC fast chargers capable of delivering up to 400 kW, making them some of the fastest publicly available chargers in Canada. For compatible vehicles, that can translate to more than 300 kilometres of added range in roughly 10 minutes.

Each charging stall is also equipped with a four-cable system, including both CCS and NACS connectors, eliminating compatibility issues that have traditionally fragmented the charging experience. The network also supports Plug & Charge functionality, allowing compatible vehicles to automatically authenticate and begin charging without requiring an app or payment method.
