Lucid held its Technology and Manufacturing Day at its Arizona factory on Tuesday, giving us our first look at the upcoming Gravity SUV with an integrated North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, as well as a sneak peek at its future midsize crossover that aims to compete directly with the Tesla Model Y.
Lucid’s CEO, Peter Rawlinson, has made it clear that the company’s future is centered on expanding its lineup to more affordable segments. While Lucid is currently known for its luxury Air sedan and upcoming Gravity SUV, Rawlinson gave us our first look at their future midsize crossover. Slated for release in 2026, the midsize EV will have a starting price around US$50,000, significantly lower than Lucid’s current offerings.
Rawlinson said that the new crossover will be superior to the Tesla Model Y, the current top-selling EV globally. He believes this will happen thanks to Lucid’s commitment to efficiency and affordability, promising it will match the range of its competitors while using a smaller, more cost-effective battery.

The Gravity SUV, which is set to begin production later this year, was a major talking point of the event. Lucid confirmed that the Gravity will be their first vehicle equipped with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector, giving owners access to Tesla’s Supercharger network. Lucid was one of the last automakers to announce it was adopting NACS.
Lucid also shared an image of the Gravity with the NACS charge port. While the port is on the left rear driver-side of the electric SUV, fans were quick to note the lack of integration with the design of the vehicle, with Lucid opting for a large charge port door that is reminiscent of those found on gas cars.
